Royal Spinel was the District One male Tribute in the 24th Hunger Games.

As a Career, Royal participated in the Bloodbath, though he was unable to kill anyone due to the thick mud slowing him down.
Royal made his first kill on the second day of the Games when he speared Caldwell Brax. A few days later, he added to his death toll by killing Bree Maeberry.
While the Capitol had high hopes for Royal, he disappointed them all by falling into a relationship with his District partner Valencia Widad, an untrained girl who used her wiles to entrap him into a parasitic relationship. Knowing subterfuge was her only chance, Valencia killed Royal in his sleep with his own weapon. She was killed moments later as she attempted to push her luck with Venus Lorieta.
Personality[]
Royal was a serious and no-nonsense volunteer. He generally kept to himself in the pack until he allied with Valencia. He knew as well as she did that the relationship would not last and thought they might as well enjoy some good times before she died.
Trivia[]
- Royal suffered from slight hearing loss in one ear caused by an ear infection in his early childhood. He concealed this from his Academy instructors and developed strategies to work around it.
